Woodford Fun Run – Race Report
Saturday 26th June found us bright, early and cold at Woodford for the St Matthias Parish annual fun run. This event is a fundraiser for church activities, and most of the Caboolture Road Runners were keen to be involved. I knew that Woodford was a quiet little town and that the race route was along some country roads, so I emailed the race director to ask if dogs were allowed to participate. I was thrilled to receive the reply, “Dogs are VERY welcome!”.
Our whole family ran the 5km event, and we were accompanied by Jen and her Australian Cattle Dog, Girl. The route was along paved or bitumen road, and had some gentle undulations which made it interesting. Young Cameron at 8 years old ran a personal best of just over 31 minutes for the distance, ably accompanied by his whippet, Sherbet. We all enjoyed a sausage sizzle and soft drink afterwards, and yes we did share with the dogs.
In the attached photo you can see, from left, Francis and Cinnabar, Jen and Girl, Cameron and Sherbet, Audrey and Guinness, and Kirsten and Tiger. Thanks again to Tim from Dreamcoat Photography – whenever we are out with the dogs, he’s there with his camera! 🙂
This run is a keeper for our calendar. Low key, affordable, well organised, friendly volunteers and dogs welcome! It’s got the lot.
Thanks for your report on the Woodford Anglican Church Fun Run! Early details for the 2011 event are available here:

Excellent, David, I’ll put it on the calendar now. Look forward to seeing you again 🙂
Hope I can get to the next one, it’s just down the road from home. Too many events on the calendar, and this is the same day as one of the Point Cartwright series.
I won’t be able to get to Gold Coast this year, so I’ll be running at Woodford! Looking forward to it …
I’ll be working that morning Craig, but F will be there with the kidlets. We’ll have to catch up another time.
A nice, local, low-key fun run. Great to see (in alphabetical order) Cinnabar, Cameron, Francis and Sherbet. I ran a terrible time, being kinda unfit and overweight, but that doesn’t matter, it was good to join in. And to see the large Caboolture Road Runners contingent.
Slices, lamingtons, Anzac cookies and tea (yes, real tea, from a tea-pot!) afterwards topped off a great morning.
Cameron comes before Cinnabar in alphabetical order, although it was great to see you too, Craig.
Quite right. I stand correctified.
Just a note that the Anglican Parish of Kilcoy website has now moved to: http://home.iprimus.com.au/d_lesage/
